PhD student in Plant Biology

Welcome, friend! This is the website of a PhD student in Plant Biology and a fern lover. A curious researcher and always looking for new partnerships, here I will help you with some R tutorials, bioinformatics pipelines and research on the evolution of ferns and lycophytes.

About me

Full degree in biological sciences from the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA, 2022). As an undergraduate researcher (PIBIC-UFMA 2020-2021), I worked on the "Maintenance and Computerization of the Vascular Plants Collection" project, focusing on the taxonomy of Cerrado ferns and lycophytes in conservation areas. In 2025, I completed my MSc in Plant Biology at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), where I studied the genus Microgramma (Scaly Clade) using morphometrics and near-infrared spectroscopy to improve species delimitation. Currently, as a PhD candidate in Plant Biology (UFPE), I investigate leaf dimorphism evolution in Microgramma, integrating phylogenomics, transcriptomics, and morphological evolution to understand the diversification mechanisms in this group.

Research Interests

Taxonomy and Ecology of Ferns and Lycophytes

To investigate the species diversity, distribution patterns and ecological relationships of ferns and lycophytes in tropical ecosystems.

Integrative Systematics of Ferns and Lycophytes

Combining morphological, molecular, and spectroscopic data to resolve taxonomic complexities and improve species delimitation.

Evolution of Ferns and Lycophytes

Exploring evolutionary mechanisms behind important innovations, using phylogenomic approaches to understand patterns of diversification in different lineages.
